❧ Describe your character’s perfect day. Wednesday, for all of her own weirdness, is a simple girl. She likes for her room to be devoid of color and unnecessary “peppy” sounds. She wants to be with her old Spanish dirges where she can sit and write her novels with only Thing to bother her to remind her to eat. She wants Enid, her family, her teachers, and all of the boys in her life to leave her alone. She doesn’t want to go to see the Headmistress or to classes or to see her therapist, Dr Kinbot. She wants to be left the fuck alone. And, well, if that’s not going to happen, she’d like to be taking down her enemies with as little trouble to herself, in public so that everyone can see that she’s the superior being.
❧ What would you consider their biggest flaw/weakness? Wednesday, like most teenagers, is so focused on being right that she misses key details about things around her. What I mean about this is that she was so focused on making Xavier the murderer that she missed a lot of hints that Tyler and Ms Thornhill were actually working together and responsible for all of the details. She’s incredibly intelligent, but she laser focuses on one idea as being the only right one that she doesn’t back down until she is forced to sit back and evaluate. There are plenty of times that her single-mindedness gets herself and others hurt, most notably when she was attacked by the Hyde when she, Tyler and Enid were exploring the old Gates house. This is definitely not the worst flaw she has, but it’s the most dangerous one that she has yet to work on so far.
❧ If your character had to choose one significant memory (an event, a person, a skill) to forget forever, what would it be and why? She would choose to forget the moment she kissed Tyler Galpin. She never wanted to get a boyfriend. She finds the obsession that everyone has with dating and sex and trying to attract other people boring and annoying. Tyler and Xavier both like her and she doesn’t understand why. She’s not nice to them. She uses everyone around her and she’d rather be alone than with them. And, yet, they still keep trying to romance her. And for a while, she was starting to cave to possibly being with Tyler. They went through a lot together during her first year at Nevermore. But then he turned out to be a murderous monster and one half of a serial killer duo with a hatred of Outcasts, despite the fact that Tyler is, in fact, an Outcast himself through his mother. So, now that he’s in custody and her life is heading to a somewhat normal place for her, she’d like to forget that kiss and just about everything to do with Tyler so she can remain unchanged and untouched.
❧ What lie does your character tell themselves the most often? What lie do they tell other people? Wednesday tells herself and other people the same lie - that she wants to be alone. Certainly she finds others tiring and tiresome, but she actually thrives around others as her foil. She stands out, for all of the wrong reasons, even amongst the Outcasts, but she doesn’t want to be like all the others either. So, she wants her uniqueness to put her above and outside everyone else so that she’s alone. Except she does want to fit in. She loves being an Addams. She loves that they’re not Normies. And after she stopped fighting life at Nevermore so much, she actually learned to enjoy her time as a student, with a roommate, and a slowly growing group of friends. She wants to be alone, but she does enjoy her time with others, so she’s never alone. Even if it’s hard for others to tell that she’s pleased since her poker face is epic.
❧ What is a secret about themselves that your character would never want to be revealed? The secret that Wednesday doesn’t want revealed is… she actually likes Xavier. She doesn’t understand why he likes her. He’s handsome, talented, and his father is rich and famous. He could do better than a girl who’s barely even alive. But he’s stubborn and he pushes her and even when she had him arrested and almost indicted for being a murderer, he forgave her and still wants to be around her. She’s not sure about it, but she finds him a little fascinating and wants to know what it is in her that he keeps coming back to time and time again. (As would quite a few other people, like Bianca and Enid.)
